BioMem - the key technology to biomethane with natural gas quality

On the way from biogas to biomethane with natural gas quality, the raw gas is first compressed with a high-pressure compressor to 10 - 16 bars.

The heat loss from the compression process can be provided by means of heat exchangers for heat extraction. The pressurized raw gas is handed over to a drying stage with temperature control and further into an activated carbon filter.

Subsequently follows the most important step, the separation of CO2 and aqueous vapor by means of highly selective tubular membranes. This is based on the different permeability of gases in polymers.

The Membrane Module SEPURAN® Green from Evonik is the innovative heart of the plant.

1-stage process for the integration of existing cogeneration units

Ideal if only a subset of a biogas production should be upgraded into biomethane.

The off-gas is then recycled again and added into the fermenter, the down streamed cogeneration unit can compensate the reduced methane concentration without any problems; the efficiency of the gas engine decreases only slightly.

The operation of Bio CNG service stations - even in intermittent operation - is the primary area of operation for this process concept - but also with this design the feeding into the public gas grid is possible.

3-stage process for obtaining the highest possible yield of methane

Here the highly selective membrane modules are arranged so, that both product gas as well as off gas are each be concentrated several times.

Such a methane slip of less than 0.5% can be achieved.

With this concept, the maximum methane yield is guaranteed, while ensuring the lowest emissions.

Pioneering plant construction

The components for the desulphurization, compression, condensation, filtration and gas separation can be provided as comletely closed container plants. The modular design allows an adjustment to any desired plant size.

The manufacturing is processed in collaboration with GT-Himmel at their site in Korneuburg near Vienna. The plant leaves our factory in modular design, fully pre-assembled, pre-constructed, tested and TÜV-approved.
